Black Mountain is a local favorite that often gets overlooked in favor of the larger resorts in the area. That’s a shame because this mountain has some of the best terrain around. With an 1100-foot vertical and 143 acres of skiing, the 45 trails don’t become too familiar too fast. After all, it’s not just the named trails that draw skiers, it’s the hidden glades that keep ‘em coming back. If you’re planning on exploring some of the hidden wonders of Black Mountain, you’re going to need Black Mountain lodging. Here are some of the closest places for you to lay your weary head.

Whitney’s Inn

Whitney’s offers a wide variety of Black Mountain lodging. The standard queen rooms are cozy but clean and comfortable. They offer a bed, a television, and a private bathroom, perfect when all you really want is a place to crash at the end of the day. The classic queen rooms are a little larger and offer some sitting chairs. The luxury king rooms are all much larger and have more room and are more comfortable. Each is decorated in a different style and all have great views of the surrounding mountains. Some even look out onto the ski area. For larger groups or families, Whitney’s offers family cottages and suites. Each suite sleeps four and the cottages sleep up to six people.  The on-site restaurant is a great place to fill up before you hit the slopes. After you’re done for the day, The Shovel Handle offers ice cold beer and amazing food for après ski get togethers.

Eagle Mountain House

Eagle Mountain House offers classic hotel rooms as its take on Black Mountain lodging. Whether you’re looking for a single queen bed or one with two doubles, this Inn has 96 rooms to fill your needs. For more space, consider one of the suite options, offered in both one and two room units.  Both sleep up to six people. The rooms are all richly appointed in classic rustic New England décor with views of the surrounding countryside. After you come back from Black Mountain, hit the Eagle Landing Tavern for après ski drinks and dinner. The short rib Shepard’s pie is a delicious way to finish a great day on the snow. For a more elegant dinner, the Highfield’s Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes with twists imagined by Executive Chef Vanessa.

The Wentworth

The Wentworth is a throwback to the elegant days of yore with European décor and 21 rooms for rent. There are also five cottages, one of which has four separate rooms. The standard rooms are quaint and come with a single queen bed as comfortable and highly affordable basic accommodations. The superior rooms are larger with a sitting area and large bay windows. They also have a large shower and separate claw foot tub, great for relaxing and soaking away the evening. The cottages are separate from the main house and some have multiple units, almost as an individual hotel themselves.  All of the Black Mountain lodging options come with either a full breakfast for two or breakfast and a four course dinner.

When you come to ski Black Mountain, finding a comfortable place to sleep is almost as important as the skiing itself. Thankfully with the wide number of inns and hotels in the area, you’re sure to find Black Mountain lodging that suits your needs.
